Geek Road Trip - Philadelphia to Seattle - June 23 to July 30

End of the Road

August 6, 2010 10:53 by SteveAndrews

That’s it folks, I made it to Seattle! The time for me has flown by inexplicably fast; I can’t believe it’s over already and I’m half-tempted to do it again.

Before I do that though I need to find a place to live out here and some work to pay for it. I also need to recover from this trip: I’m pretty tired and need some nourishment that fast food on the road didn’t provide.

The next little while of my life will now consist of this settling down thing in the Seattle area, hanging out with friends, and diving into the local and regional community. As well I need to spend some time with GeekGive and a pet project I’ve been working on.

For work, I’m primarily looking for contract project work with ASP.NET MVC, CMS-based websites, or Team Foundation Server and ALM consulting. Any leads are appreciated.

There are a lot of folks I need to thank for making this trip possible. First, I need to thank all the user groups and events that had me in to speak. Many of them set up special events just for me! You can find a list of these great groups here.

Next, all my hosts; the kind folks who put me up for a night or three and even fed me: Alan Stevens (TN), Chris Eargle (SC), Keith Rowe (FL), Keith Elder (MS), Randy Walker (AR), Kathleen Dollard (CO), the New Mexico .NET User Group, Uncle Jim and Aunt Jill (AZ), Rick Ratayczak (NV), and Mathis Brandewinder (CA). Thanks so much y’all!

Until I can’t fight the urge anymore and hit the road again: be well, be safe, and don’t feed Fortran developers after midnight.
