Today I lounged around Chris Eargle’s house for most of the morning and afternoon writing emails, creating reports, and handling other logistics for GeekRoadTrip and GeekGive. I also realized that the next month of my life will revolve around these two topics. How cool is that? I’m living the dream!
After getting some work done I hit the road for the short 84 mile drive over to Augusta, GA. While short, it was full of drama: I almost got run off the road by an aggressive 18-wheeler, endured torrential downpours behind 18-wheelers going 10+ mph over the speed limit, and had to work hard to get the McDonald’s drive-through staff to understand my thick northeast accent.
But it was worth it. This evening I spoke at the Augusta Developers Guild on the Web Deployment Toolkit. The group met at Augusta State University and was a mix of college students and working professionals. I had a great time and even got a free Visual Studio 2010 t-shirt. A big thanks to Peter Mourfield for having me in.
Tonight I got an inexpensive hotel room to rest a bit before the 5.5+ hour drive to Tallahassee, Florida to speak at the Capital City .NET User Group about TDD with Visual Studio. Wish me luck too as there is no direct highway route between here and there so it will likely be backwoods driving. Yes, I may have seen way too many terrorized motorist films on the SyFy Channel.
